जब उन क्रूर और कठोर राक्षसी स्त्रियों ने बहुत कुछ कहा, तब जनक की पुत्री (सीता) रो पड़ी।
Thus being spoken to by ogre women, Seetha with a good mind being frightened a lot spoke as follows with a voice indistinct due to tears.
सीताजी, जो राक्षसों द्वारा इस प्रकार कही गईं, उन्होंने अत्यंत भयभीत होकर, आँसुओं से भरी हुई और काँपती हुई आवाज़ में कहा।

न मानुषी राक्षसस्य भार्या भवितुमर्हति |
कामं खादत मां सर्वा न करिष्यामि वो वचः || ५-२५-३
"A human woman is not suited to become a wife of an ogre. All of you eat me according to your desire. I will not do according to your words."
मानव स्त्री को राक्षस की पत्नी नहीं होना चाहिए। भले ही तुम मुझे खा जाओ, मैं तुम्हारी बात नहीं मानूँगी।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 25 · v4
सा राक्षसीमध्यगता सीता सुरसुतोपमा |
न शर्म लेभे दुःखार्ता रावणेन च तर्जिता || ५-२५-४
Being in the middle of ogre women, being frightened by Ravana also, like a daughter of gods, that Seetha did not get comfort being tormented by grief.
वह राक्षसों के बीच में स्थित, देवकन्या के समान सीता, रावण द्वारा धमकाए जाने पर दुखी थी और उसे कोई सुख नहीं मिला।
Like a fawn in a forest lost from its herd and tormented by wolves, Seetha was as though sinking into own body and shook a lot.
सीता जी वन में प्रवेश करते हुए अपने शरीर में अधिक कांप रही थीं, जैसे वन में भटक गई हिरणी को कोयलें सता रही हों।
That Seetha with a broken heart due to grief, held a wide flowering branch of Ashoka tree and thought about Her husband.
वह अशोक के वृक्ष की विशाल, पुष्पित शाखा को पकड़कर, दुखी मन से अपने पति का विचार करने लगी।

सा स्नापयन्ती विपुलौ स्तनौ नेत्रजलस्रवैः |
चिन्तयन्ती न शोकस्य तदान्तमधिगच्छति || ५-२५-७
Then that Seetha washing Her wide breasts with a flow of tears from eyes and thinking, did not get end of sorrow.
वह अपने विशाल स्तनों को आँसुओं से भिगोती हुई, अपने शोक का अंत नहीं पा रही थी।
That Seetha was shaking like a plantain tree fallen down in an exceedingly windy place, trembling with fear of the ogre women, and became with a pale face.
वह डर के मारे कांपती हुई, हवा में केले के पत्ते की तरह गिर पड़ी। राक्षसों से भयभीत होने के कारण उसका मुख पीला पड़ गया।
That moving plait, which was wide and long, of that best woman was seen to be like a serpant in motion.
उसकी वह लम्बी और घनी चोटी, जो काँप रही थी, उस समय सीता की सर्पणी के समान रेंगती हुई दिखाई दी।

सा निःश्वसन्ती दुःखार्ता शोकोपहतचेतना |
आर्ता व्यसृजदश्रूणि मैथिली विललाप च || ५-२५-१०
That Seetha tormented by grief, with a mind hit by sorrow, struck by calamity was sighing and let down tears and also cried.
दुःख से व्याकुल और शोक से जिसका मन अचेत हो गया था, वह मैथिली (सीता) आहें भरती हुई आँसू बहाने लगी और विलाप करने लगी।

हा रामेति च दुःखार्ता हा पुनर्लक्ष्मणेति च |
हा श्वश्रु मम कौसल्ये हा सुमित्रेति भामिनी || ५-२५-११
Seetha being tormented by grief said : "Oh! Rama!" and again "Oh! Lakshmana!","Oh! Kausalya!, my mother-in-law" "Oh! Sumitra!"
हे राम! हे लक्ष्मण! हे मेरी सास कौशल्या! हे सुमित्रा! ऐसा विलाप करती हुई वह स्त्री अत्यंत दुखी थी।
"I thus being tormented by cruel ogre women here lacking Rama, being tormented by grief, when I am living even for a moment,' death at wrong time to woman or to a man is hard' - thus being said this popular saying in the world is true."
यह कहावत विद्वानों द्वारा कही गई है कि समय से पहले मृत्यु किसी स्त्री या पुरुष के लिए दुर्लभ है। जब मैं इन क्रूर राक्षसों से पीड़ित हूँ और राम के बिना दुखी होकर एक पल भी जीवित रहती हूँ।
"This me with small merit,wreched, like an orphan, will perish like a ship in the middle of the ocean being hit by the speed of wind."
यह अल्पपुण्य वाली कृपण स्त्री अनाथ की तरह नष्ट हो जाएगी, जैसे समुद्र के बीच में वायु के वेग से आहत नाव डूब जाती है।
"Not seeing my husband that Rama and obtaining control of ogre women like a bank hit by water I am verily perishing with sorrow."
अपने पति को न देखकर, मैं राक्षसों के वश में आ गई हूँ। जैसे जल से कटा हुआ किनारा दुखी होता है, वैसे ही मैं भी शोक से व्याकुल हो रही हूँ।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 25 · v15
तं पद्मदळपत्राक्षं सिंहविक्रान्तगामिनम् |
धन्याः पश्यन्ति मे नाथं कृतज्ञं प्रियवादिनम् || ५-२५-१६
"Only fortunate see that my husband with eyes like petals of an expanded lotus, walking with the gait of a lion, correct in conduct and a pleasant talker."
हे नाथ, कमल के पत्ते जैसी आँखों वाले, सिंह के समान पराक्रमी चाल वाले, कृतज्ञ और प्रिय वचन बोलने वाले आपको धन्य लोग ही देख पाते हैं।
"To me lacking that Rama with a famous soul, like after eating a pungent poison life in all ways is hard."
हे राम, आपके बिना मेरा जीवन विष के समान कड़वा और दुर्लभ हो गया है।
"By what this horrible and very dreadful grief is obtained by me, what kind of great sin had been done by me in another life."
मैंने पिछले जन्मों में ऐसा कौन सा बड़ा पाप किया है, जिसके कारण मुझे यह भयानक और असहनीय दुःख प्राप्त हो रहा है?
"Together with great grief, I desire to give away my life. This desire is not obtainable by me. I am well protected by ogre women."
मैं घोर शोक से व्याकुल होकर अपना जीवन त्यागना चाहती हूँ। राक्षसों द्वारा रक्षित होने के कारण मैं राम को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकती।

धिगस्तु खलु मानुष्यं धिगस्तु परवश्यताम् |
न शक्यं यत्परित्यक्तुमात्मच्छन्देन जीवितम् || ५-२५-२०
"Fie upon human condition! Fie upon being in the control of others. By what reason it is not possible according to own desire to give up life."
धिक्कार है मनुष्यता को और परवशता को, क्योंकि अपनी इच्छा से जीवन को त्यागना संभव नहीं है।
